A quilter's guild in Clinton, Illinois
In October 1992 twenty-six ladies attended the first meeting of the Salt Creek Patchmakers. In December, by-laws and standing rules were written and presented to the members. On January 17, 1993, the by-laws and standing rules were approved by the membership and adopted. Guild officers were elected, and committee chairmen were appointed. A contest was held for the membership to design our guild’s logo. The membership chose Rail Fence as our logo from the entries.
In March, the first quarterly newsletter was published and distributed. By April of 1993, the guild had grown to 55 members. In May, paperwork was completed, and the guild incorporated and secured liability insurance.
The Salt Creek Patchmakers Quilt Guild was organized to contribute to the knowledge of/and promote the appreciation of fine quilts; to sponsor and support quilt making and collecting; to contribute to the growth of knowledge of quilting techniques, textiles, patterns, history, and quilt makers through education.
